Day 04: Delhi - Chandigarh

Day 05: Chandigarh

Proceed to Golf Club. Starting a Golf Course in Chandigarh was conceived in the 50's, it took almost 10 years for it to take shape. In 1960 a piece of land was allotted and the club was established with an initial membership of just 10 Golfers. The 09 Hole course was enlarged to 12, when the benevolent governor - who surrendered a major chunk of land from his official resident - granted additional land to the club in 1966. It was only as late as September 1983 that a regular 18 Hole PAR 72 Course was finally laid out over Sprawling 132 Acres. It is also the only golf course in Northen India having flood lit 9 hole course and flood lit driving range.

Day 06: Chandigarh - Shimla

Located in the north-west Himalayas at an average altitude of 2,205 metres (7,234 ft), the city of Shimla was declared the summer capital of the British Raj in India. It is now a popular tourist destination, and is usually draped in forests of pine, rhododendron, and oak. Summers are pleasant winters are cold and snowy winters.

Day 07: Shimla - Naldhera

Leave by surface to Naldhera, 23 kms from Shimla.
The Naldehra Golf Club is an unusual course, perched at an altitude of 2,200 meters; under a thick mane of Himalayan Cedar ; "Deodar Trees". It is a par 68, 18 Hole Golf Course with 16 Greens and 18 Tees. Designed over a long sloping glade, the course is regarded as one of the most challenging in the Country. It offers exploring golfers a sense of originality, character and adventure all rolled into a round of golf. Day 08: Naldhera - Shimla - Delhi

Transfer in time to the railway station to board Toy train for Kalka. Arrive Kalka and board connecting train for Delhi.
The distance of 96 KM between Shimla and Kalka passes through 102 tunnels and 87 bridges. There are more than 20 stations in this railway system which still uses the old Neals Token Instrument system for track interlocking. It connects Kalka at an height of 656 meter to Shimla at 2076 meter from mean sea level. There are around 900 curves and sharpest curve is of 48 degree. The five hour journey is one of the best train journeys for tourist operated by Indian railway. It is also now in UNESCO's world heritage lists.

Day 09: Delhi - Kolkata

The city, formerly known by the name of Calcutta has undergone a sea change in a very short span of time. Kolkata as it stands today is the largest metropolitan city of India. The city has the distinction of being the procurer of many important movements encompassing politics, arts, literature, theatre, cinema, science and technology, in India. The city was named Calcutta by the British Power and the place continued to be called so till 2001 A.D. when the city was officially renamed as Kolkata.

Royal Calcutta Golf Club affectionately known as the "Royal" is synonymous with the game of golf in this country. Founded in 1829, Royal is the oldest golf club outside the British Isles, the oldest being the Royal and Ancient, St. Andrews in Scotland, the home of golf. The Royal truly has a history that would be a treasure for the archives of the game of golf..In 1911, the club was honoured by King George V and Queen Mary, who conferred on it, the title of "Royal" to commemorate their visit to Calcutta. Much of the memorabilia connected with the history of the club is still preserved in the club house. Today Royal is considered to have one of the finest golf courses anywhere in Asia. Dotted with the famous ponds, the course has seen tremendous improvement over the last few years with redesigning and upgradation in progress. The 72 par course is both inviting and a challenge. The Royal has been the shared venue of the All India Championship since 1958 and has played host to some of golf's all time greats, both Indians and Internationals such as I.S. Malik, H.S. Malik, Major P.G. Sethi, Walter Hagen and Pamela Barton to name but a few.

The city has a vibrant theatre scene and is an important centre for the Bharatanatyam, a classical dance form.

Day 12: Chennai

Drive to the Madras Gymkhana Golf Club which entered the annals of history in 1877 after Royal Calcutta Golf Course which was established in 1829 and Bangalore Golf Club which went on stream in 1876. Originally started from the Island Grounds, the course was shifted to Guindy sometime around 1887. The Guindy Golf course originally had 9 holes and graduated to 14 holes and then to 16 before becoming a full fledged 18 hole golf course. Originally played o ff the browns, the transformation to greens was not to happen until the 1980s. All along, Guindy Golf course was known for its roughs, the tall and prickly grass bordering most fairways which posed a signal challenge to golfers with the ever changing wind. The 70 par golf course plays about 6258 yards played off the regular tees. The course is known for its tricky roughs and the unpredictable wind factor. The greens play true for most part and the narrow approach to several greens mask the deceptive nature of the links course with no sign of trees.

In 1661, King Charles II of England, married Princess Catherine de Braganza of Portugal, and as part of the dowry he received "Bombay" which is today known as Mumbai. Mahatma Gandhi joining Indian Politics in 1920, was a turning point in the political destiny of India which led to the Independence of India from the British rule. Bombay (Mumbai) had an important role to play in this event. Mumbai city is known as the business capital of India, it being the country's principal financial and communications centre. The city has the largest and the busiest port handling India's foreign trade and a major Interntional airport. India's largest Stock Exchange which ranks as the third largest in the world, is situated in Mumbai. Here, trading of stocks is carried out in billions of rupees everyday. Afternoon, visit the Elephanta caves. The Elephanta Caves are a great tourist attraction in the vicinity of the large Mumbai meteropolis. The Elephanta island is located 10 km away from the Gateway of India at Mumbai. These caves house rock cut temples dating back to the 5th century CE. The Elephanta island was so named by the Portuguese, after the statue of an elephant near the landing area of the island.
