PALACE ON WHEELS
In 1981-82, the Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation and Indian Railways launched a special heritage tourist train for providing a unique memorable experience to the tourists visiting Rajasthan and named it aptly as “The Palace on Wheels”. It has 14 air – conditioned saloons, 2 restaurants cum kitchen cars, one Bar cum Lounge and 4 service Cars. The cabins of each saloon are attached with bath and shower. The train also has a well-appointed lounge, library and bar that is well stocked and serves Indian liquor and variety of scotch, wine and cocktails. The two dining cars are decked up in true Rajasthani style and each saloon has personal attendants, khidmatgars, for your service. It has piped music in every saloon, and interesting games for children. Each saloon has been renamed after each princely state of Rajasthan - Jaipur, Jodhpur, Alwar, Bundi, Kota, Jhalawar, Dungarpur, Dholpur, Bharatpur, Jaisalmer, Sirohi, Bikaner, Udaipur and Kishangarh.

Day 01 (Wednesday): NEW DELHI: Reporting Time 16.00 hrs. Dep. 18.30 hrs.
The journey of a lifetime begins at the Delhi Safdarjung Railway station where the guests are accorded a warm, traditional welcome.

Day 02 (Thursday): ARRIVE JAIPUR Arrival 03.00 hrs. Departure 19.30 hrs
The first stop of the Palace-on-Wheels is Jaipur, capital of Rajasthan, also popularly known as the Pink City. Be prepared for a Royal welcome on arrival. An air-conditioned coach takes you to Hawa Mahal or the Palace of Winds, followed by a visit to Amber Fort where elephant ride is available to climb up the hill. Lunch at a Five Star Hotel followed by visit to City Palace Museum and Observatory.
Day 03 (Friday): ARRIVE JAISALMER Arrival 09.00 hrs. Departure 23.45 hrs.
Arrive Jaisalmer. Visit the Fort, Discover the painstakingly latticed havelis or mansions with their grand facades. The Nathmalji-ki-haveli, Patwon-ki-haveli and Salim Singh-ki-haveli. After lunch on board, go for an exciting camel ride on the sand dunes of Sam, before sipping a refreshing cup of tea. Enjoy the dinner and the cultural program at a Five Star hotel.

Day 04 (Saturay): ARRIVE JODHPUR Arrival 07.00 hrs. Departure 15.30 hrs.
Next morning the Palace-on-Wheels is in Jodhpur, a city ringed by a high stone wall with seven gates and several bastions and the second largest city of Rajasthan. Visit the Mehrangarh Fort and the Jaswant Thada. Return to the Palace on Wheels after having lunch at a Palace hotel.

Day 05 (Sunday): ARRIVE RANTAHMBORE Arrival 04.00 hrs. Departure 10.30 hrs.
Arrive at Sawai Madhopore, the nearest rail head for Ranthambore. After breakfast, a visit is arranged to the Ranthambhor National Park, wherein are located the ruins of a 10th century fort. This wildlife sanctuary is considered to be the country's best National parks. It covers an area of 392 sq. kms and is home to more than 300 species of birds and of course, the big cat. Upon return to the Palace-on-Wheels, you leave for Chittaurgarh, when one gets an opportunity to watch the colorful countryside passing by in the daylight.
Day 05 (Sunday): ARRIVE CHITTAURGARH: Arrival 16.00 hrs. Departure 05.30 hrs (next day).
Ranthambhor,Chittaurgarh,Udaipur,Bharatpur
 
After lunch on board you are in Chittaurgarh. Images of love and velour; scars of battles lost and won...thrice-besieged, Chittaurgarh Fort is all this and more. Moving legends of honor and pride will echo in your mind as you proceed to Udaipur.

ARRIVE UDAIPUR Arrival 07:30 hrs. Departure 17.30 hrs.

After lunch at a Five Star Hotel, a visit to the City Palace.
Day 07 (Tuesday) Bharatpur: Arrival 06.30 hrs.Departure 9.00 hrs.
In the morning, the Palace on Wheels arrives in Bharatpur, the capital of Maharaja Suraj Mal . After breakfast pay a visit to the world famous bird sanctuary, Keoladeo Ghana National Park, the nesting place for thousands of Egrets, Siberian Cranes, migratory Water Fowl and other species of birds.

Agra: Arrival 12.00 hrs. Departure 21.00 hrs. Upon arrival visit the Agra Fort and after lunch arrive at the Taj Mahal, one of the seven wonders of the world.

Day 08 (Wednesday) Delhi: Arrival 04.00 hrs. Arrive at Delhi Safdarjung Railway station at 04.00 hrs. Breakfast on board and you carry home the cherished and pleasant memories of a royal journey. Overnight in Jaipur.

Fairy Queen is the oldest running vintage steam locomotive in the world and was built in the year 1855 by the British firm Kinston, Thompson & Hewitson for the British firm East India Railways. This train has got only a first class chair car having 50 seats and a pantry car for on board catering. A Guinness Book of World Records holder and winner of the National Tourism Award, this pristine beauty rolled again on 1st February 1997 from Delhi, after a gap of 142 years. After departing from Delhi, its first halt is the picturesque town of Alwar in Rajasthan. From
Alwar the guests are taken to the Sariska Tiger Reserve for an over night stay. Accommodation provisions are done at the Heritage hotel Sariska Palace and for entertainment there are traditional cultural programs and a Jeep Safari in the Tiger Sanctuary.

The first destination of the Royal Orient train is Chittorgarh. The Royal Orient train arrives at Udaipur early in the morning. Chittorgarh is an important and historical city of Rajasthan. The Chittor fort, located atop a hill is a depiction of Rajput valor, bravery, culture and values. Breakfast on board then proceed to Udaipur. Lunch and city tour. Overnight on board.

Day 03 (Friday) ARRIVE CHITORGARH/UDAIPUR
Arrive Junagarh at 1400 hours and Veraval at 1800 hours. Junagarh is an important historical place. The town of Veraval is located 6 km from Somnath. It is a part of Junagarh District of Gujarat. Veraval was once a fortified port town of the royal family of Junagarh. From Veraval proceed for a tour to Somnath. The main attraction at Somnath is the famous Shiva Temple on the Arabian Sea.

Day 04 (Saturday) ARRIVE SASANGIR
Arrive Sasangir, well known for the Gir National Park. And the only remaining habitat of the Asiatic lion. Proceed towards Dilwara at 1130 hours from Sasangir. The main attractions at Dilwara are the St. Paul's Church, Diu fort and the Ahmedpur-Mandvi beach. Dinner and overnight on board.

Day 05 (Sunday) ARRIVE PALITANA & SARKHEJ
Arrive Palitana at 0740 hours and Sarkhej at 1905 hours. Explore the famous Jain temples at Shatrunjaya Hills. The beautiful Jain temples of Palitana were constructed in the North Indian style of temple architecture. Famous for its unique village life, the Vishalla village, located in Sarkhej is your next halt. Leave by surface by an air conditioned coach for Ahmedabad.

Day 06 (Monday) AHMEDABAD/JAIPUR
Full day city tour of Ahmedabad. Return back to the royal train and proceed to Jaipur. Overnight on board.

Day 07 (Tuesday) ARRIVE JAIPUR
Arrive Jaipur at 1115 hours. Full day city tour of Jaipur. Depart Jaipur at 2130 hours. Dinner and overnight on board.

Day 08 (Wednesday)
ARRIVE DELHI Arrive Delhi. End of a memorable trip!!
